'Gambling Understood' - Gambling Harms Marketing Campaign

As part of the Y&H ADPH funded programme a marketing campaign titled ‘Gambling Understood’ is underway across the region to prevent and reduce gambling harms. This is based on behavioural science and aims to increase awareness and knowledge on: the prevalence, harms and gambling industry tactics (which influence the uptake and continuation of gambling) and appropriate sources of support.

The campaign is aimed at men up to 34 years of age due to the higher risk of gambling harm in this population, but we hope is equally of interest to wider audiences including anyone affected by someone’s gambling.

Marketing activity is split into two bursts:

  • Burst 1 - raising awareness on gambling harms and prevalence, including tactics
  • Burst 2 - signposting to sources of support

Information will be across social media platforms, local communication channels, out-of-home advertising, and through video on demand. An evaluation of the campaign will be supported by the University of Nottingham to understand the level of influence on individual attitudes on the perceptions of risk, gambling products and help-seeking intentions.

To support the campaign you can share the ‘Gambling Understood’ website with your networks. This also includes digital materials such as posters, social media tiles and other templates.

Burst 2 is currently live from the 8th December to 31st January 2024.
